24/7 angst | 24/7 Fear

Elke psycholoog vertelt in feite hetzelfde.

As I said, there was good news about the tumor: the tumor was no longer visible on the MRI. The operation was brought forward and it was scheduled for August 10. Until then, I had nothing for a while. Still, the fear and panic remained. The continuous bubbling feeling of fear in my stomach that turned into panic because of every little thing. In medical psychology they did their best, but the conversations and techniques simply did not work. "Just let the fear be" or "ask yourself if this is really something to be afraid of."

To be honest, I'm getting tired of this kind of advice. 😒 Over the years I have seen and heard a lot of psychologists. In fact, every psychologist tells the same thing. If I feel that fear bubbling up, I can still put things into perspective, but as soon as something changes in the daily situation or in my body (being nauseous, tired, etc) it immediately turns into panic and then I simply can't put things into perspective anymore. I have tried to explain this so many times, but unfortunately all I hear is: "let the fear be there". It's there, damn it, already: all fucking day! 😩😔

The operation went very well. I had little afterpain and I compared what I felt with the chemo; I don't feel as bad as I felt then. See, I can really put things into perspective even with that bubbling misery in my belly. 😎 The result of the breast tissue was very good: 3mm of residual tumor had been found; cutting surfaces were clean and the gatekeeper gland was clean too. 🥳

Despite the good news, I continued to feel that fear of rottenness 24/7. The strange thing is that the fear is not about cancer, treatments or the consequences at all, but about everyday things. It was so extreme at the end of August that the fear completely controlled me. I lived on the Lorazepam and couldn't enjoy anything anymore. I was only trying to keep myself going. 😭

How is it possible that I feel this way, while the cancer is basically gone? I'm lived by fear and I can tell you that this sucks.

There is always light at the end of the tunnel, they say. Then turn on that fucking light for me, because I don't see a damn thing. 😒
